#209: Happy Birthday to Forage Bowties!

So, I’ve tweeted, Facebooked and posted teasers about today’s giveaway.  But, today is about more than just the giveaway.  While perusing my Twitter last week, I stumbled upon Forage Bowties.  Curious, I checked out their website.

FREAKING ADORABLE.

Brilliant, obviously well made… and made with love.

Forage BowtiesFurthermore, you can tell that people LOVE wearing their products.  I was taking a gander through Forage’s Flickr Streams, and people have their wedding photographers take pictures of the bowties.  Lots of them.  They’re just that cool.

So, naturally, looking out for you lovelies, I tweeted Forage and asked if they were interested in doing a giveaway.  What happened next made me love them even more! (aside from the fact that they obviously said yes)

I got this email from Shauna herself:

just saw your tweet about a giveaway and we’d LOVE to.

in fact, FORAGE’s first birthday is this friday and we’re looking for blogs to host a giveaway on fri to help us celebrate.

What impeccable timing I have!  But, just you wait, it gets better!  They want to give away my MOST VERY FAVORITE BOWTIE IN THEIR SHOP! HURRAH!

how about one of our multi check gingham bow ties?

Yes! Yes! Yes! One million times YES!

Multi Check Gingham Bowtie | Forage Bowties

See why I love it? Swoon. So perfect for a Spring, Summer, Fall (sure, even Winter — why not!?) wedding! Ugh I love it.  Sad for me, Mr. Man wouldn’t be caught dead in a bowtie.

Here’s a little more about Shauna and Stephen:

we’ve been making all sorts of stuff as long as we can remember. these days you can find us sewing bow ties around the clock at our studio located in an old philadelphia tire factory. when we’re not burning through the motor on our sewing machine, we’re busy building things in our wood shop or printing on our c&p letterpress.

why bow ties? as stephen likes to say “they’re the most practical form of neckwear”. they don’t interfere with various working methods like a dangerous, dangling neck tie. it was out of necessity for safe neck accessorizing that we created our own collection of bow ties. we call them FORAGE because gathering the perfect fabric is always quite the hunt.

our hand crafted bow ties are self tying and adjustable in length. if you don’t know how to tie a bow tie – you’re gonna need some practice! each bow tie is part of a limited edition and has a discrete vintage woven label (for authenticity). they are shipped in a printed mason box with metal tab closures, and packed with shredded kraft paper to keep them safe and sound until their arrival.

Bowties are a special something to me… my grandfather (who passed away in January of 2009) always wore them.  Any fancy or even almost fancy occasion called for a bowtie… after all, he had dozens.

When he passed, his bowties were split between some of us granddaughters.  I got one, and it lives tied around my rear view mirror.

My sister just so happened to get a yellow one that will be lovingly wrapped around my bouquet on my wedding day.

Anyway, without further ado: HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, FORAGE BOWTIES! WE LOVE YOU! :)

To celebrate their birthday, you can win this little puppy!  How, you ask?

So, I work on Capitol Hill and twice a week there is a guy in our office who wears a bowtie and gives me the most cocky look. I’d really like to win this so that I can give him a run for his money (and/or a cocky look back.) :)

I love bowties!!! I love the navy plaid and soft blue especially. If I won this bowtie it would be for my groom. But who am I kidding, I’d probably buy three more so the groomsman would match!

Love this color pattern! I’d give this tie to my boyfriend if I won. He wore suits to work every day when we lived in NYC, but since relocating to North Carolina two months ago, they’ve been tucked away. This bow tie would make dressing up fun again!
