I love it when brides contact me. Love it. Especially when they’re just as thrifty as I am. Even MORE especially when they want to offer you guys goodies!!
Kelly contacted me mid-dissertation for her PhD wanting to host a giveaway on the blog. She passed, so let’s take a moment to say HOORAY KELLY! Good job, friend!
Anyway. Kelly has an awesome little Etsy shop, Lavender Paper Hearts, where she sells gorgeous headpieces and bows. The best part about it is that her items are not only beautiful, they’re so affordable. By “so affordable,” I mean that you can get a beautiful headpiece for your wedding for under $20. Pick your jaw up off the floor and keep reading… she’s giving one away!
Even better: if you don’t win, I bet your budget can afford the $16.99 price tag and you can purchase your own (thank me later).
Turning it over to Kelly now:
My husband and I were both PhD students while we were planning our wedding. (I actually just defended my dissertation so I’m now officially Dr. Kelly – just don’t look to me to save your life. If you need help doing a research project though, I’m your gal!) I knew that I wanted to try and make things for our wedding because I love to get crafty, but also because it would help us to save a little money on things here and there. Plus, I was in the middle of writing my dissertation and it felt so good to use my brain in another way at the end of the day when I was worn out from teaching, writing, and doing research… Procrati-crafting? When it came time to gifts for my bridesmaids I decided to make a lot of their gifts by hand because I thought it would be a nice little personal touch that I could also customize for each lovely lady in my life. I embroidered hankies, made clutches, and also hair pieces. I got really into making hair pieces and thought that it might be a fun way to continue crafting. I ended up starting my own Etsy shop a month or so after our wedding and worked on pieces here and there as I had time.
Lavender Paper Hearts contains whimsical and fun hair pieces and fascinators for brides, bridesmaids, flower girls, or for anyone who just wants something fancy to wear for a night out on the town. I’ve had clients wear my pieces to prom or as a little something extra to wear to their baby shower! I also love working with clients to design custom pieces and even though I’m a new shop I’ve had the opportunity to design 5 pieces for brides so far!! Also, most of my designs are modifiable – so if you love a piece from my store but wish it had some tulle, or a rhinestone instead of a pearl, I can usually accommodate.

The winner of this giveaway will receive her choice of one flower hair piece from my shop. Both pieces are valued at $16.99 and I can ship the winner’s choice anywhere in the United States!
Hair Piece #1: Soft Blush Flower Fascinator with French Veiling Leaves
This bridal hair flower fascinator comes in your choice of blush or white. I’ve added a sweet pearl center and dainty soft white veiling leaves for a touch of vintage whimsy. Are you a bride wearing a birdcage veil? I love this piece because it’s a fun and subtle nod to your veil once you’ve taken it off after the ceremony!! This piece helps to finish off a look whether worn in by the bride, bridesmaids, or even for a fun night out on the town. The flower itself is approximately 4.5 inches long and the veiling leaves make the hair piece measure 5.5 inches across and secures to your hair with a sturdy alligator clip.
OR
Hair Piece #2: Ivory Magnolia Hair Flower with French Veiling Bow
This bridal hair magnolia fascinator comes in your choice of ivory or soft white. The piece is finished off with a sweet veiling bow and rhinestone center which gives the piece an elegant and playful touch. This playful hairpiece makes a great finishing touch for your hair on your wedding day or even a playful accent for a party! The flower measures approximately 4.5 inches wide and approximately 5 inches wide on the sides with the French veiling.

I would looooooooooove to win the Ivory Hair Flower with French Veiling Bow. I’m not having a veil at my wedding and this adds just enough. I had my first dress fitting and my mom and I fell in love with the idea of a flower in my hair. It was so soft and romantic with soft waves in my hair.
so pretty!!
And I commented on both you guys walls
I’ve been looking for the perfect accessory to put in my hair for our reception and this is it!
Love it!
I would love to win #2; however they are both beautiful. Being a Virginia Girl there is just something about magnolias! I think that this particular piece will also just add a touch of something special to my big day.
Also I friended Lavender Paper Hearts (and left a message) and I’ve been friends with MBD$10K for a while now!
